Semarang – A total of 62 students from the 43rd cohort of the Nursing Professional Program, Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), participated in the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).

The OSCE aims to evaluate the clinical competencies of students as prospective professional nurses. Conducted over three days, from December 17 to December 19, 2024, the examination took place in the nursing laboratory of Undip’s Faculty of Medicine.

During the OSCE, students completed 9 stations covering various aspects of nursing care: Station 1 (Safety and Comfort), Station 2 (Nutrition), Station 3 (Sexual and Reproductive Health), Station 4 (Circulation), Station 5 (Elimination), Station 6 (Psychosocial Care), Station 7 (Activity and Rest), Station 8 (Oxygenation), and Station 9 (Fluid and Electrolyte Balance). Each station simulated clinical scenarios designed to assess the students’ ability to provide holistic nursing care. The examiners were faculty members and clinical supervisors from Undip’s partner hospitals and community health centers.

Sarah Ulliya, the OSCE coordinator, highlighted the significance of the examination as a critical evaluation tool to ensure the readiness of nursing graduates. “The OSCE serves as a benchmark to assess how well students can apply their knowledge and clinical skills, ensuring they are prepared to contribute effectively to the workforce,” she explained.

Through a systematic and rigorous OSCE process, the Department of Nursing Science at Undip’s Faculty of Medicine continues to strive for the development of competent and high-quality professional nurses. This examination aims to enhance students’ preparedness to face the challenges of the nursing profession while ensuring graduates meet the healthcare needs of the community.
